Etcetera

Etcetera is the hyperactive kitten. For the most part, Victoria, Jemima and Electra are all pretty dignified...but this crazy bundle of energy has no inhibitions! She is absolutely crazy for the Rum Tum Tugger and may be the Pouncival equivalent in imitating Bombalurina...(? Not sure about that...) Anyway...she may be Victoria's or Electra's sister, and she may be Jellylorum's daughter.
Like Pouncival, most people find Etcetera cute, and I find her kind of annoying, but that's just me...she's absolutely energetic and crazy and probably a lot of fun to play.

Useful Facts About the Role:

Etcetera does little singing, but a lot of squealing, and is in all the big dance numbers.

Electra

Well...there isn't really much to say about Electra. She's probably Etcetera's or Jemima's sister, I don't know...she's a very quiet, background kitten, especially in comparison with her hyperactive friend. Like all the kittens, she is a Rum Tum Tugger fan, but less crazy over him. She seems to have a good relationship with Munkustrap. He may be her father, or just a friend.

Useful Facts About the Role

Electra is mainly an ensemble dance role.

Pouncival

Pouncival, also known as Carbucketty, is a playful tom kitten. He admires the Rum Tum Tugger very much and tries to be like him. He seems to find Bombalurina very attractive...he repeatedly comes on to her during the Jellicle Ball and the Rum Tum Tugger's song. Most people find this cute, I find it kind of weird...while the Rum Tum Tugger is seducing the kittens Bombalurina is sort of standing there suffering, and Pouncival thrusts his butt in her face like "Hey, don't waste your time with him, I'm here" and Bombalurina pushes him away "get away from me".
Pouncival's best friend is Tumblebrutus. He is also friends with Plato...in the movie they kind of have this "bro" thing going where they parallel the female kittens' Rum Tum Tugger fan club, but they want to be him instead of to be his mate.
Pouncival is one of the kittens who is not initially prejudiced against Grizabella, but is eventually turned against her. In the background at the beginning of "Grizabella, the Glamour Cat" you can see Plato and Tumblebrutus pushing him. I guess he first bullies Grizabella on a dare or something, but after a while he really gets into it and is the principal cause of her misery, which I find hard to forgive.

Useful Facts About the Role
Pouncival does no solo singing...on the other hand he does a lot of dancing and acrobatic tricks. If you don't like the serious performing as much as playing around, this might be a good role for you.

Coricopat and Tantomile

There isn't much to say about Coricopat and Tantomile that hasn't already been covered in Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer. Let me see what I can come up with...
Coricopat and Tantomile are also very close, maybe even closer than Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer. They always move, sing and speak in exact synch with each other. They are quieter, more thoughtful, than Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer. Like Quaxo, they sense Grizabella and Old Deuteronomy before they arrive. Interestingly, they fail to warn the Tribe of Macavity's sudden appearances.
As with Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer, there is debate over whether they are siblings or mates, for basically the same reasons, except that they do not have their own song.
They are quick to pick up on hidden meanings in cats' words. They are the only cats to understand Old Deuteronomy in "The Moments of Happiness", and somehow convey his message to Jemima.
Both are initially hostile to Grizabella, but eventually accept her. Tantomile seems to admire the Rum Tum Tugger, although not as much as the kittens. Coricopat doesn't really like him.

Useful Facts About the Roles

Coricopat and Tantomile dance with everyone else. Because they almost always move and sing together, it is important to have a good connection with the other. Tantomile is a soprano and Coricopat is a tenor (I think?).

Jemima

"...we wanted to find the little young thing, with the wonderful wide-open face..."
--Gillian Lynne, choreographer

Jemima, sometimes known as Sillabub, is the smallest, youngest, sweetest kitten. She is innocent and pure, full of love for the world and hope that even Grizabella can be healed. She is the old cat's chief supporter, singing with her and accepting her without question.
Jemima is loved by everyone in the Tribe. Even the Rum Tum Tugger seems to respect and like her. She is one of the biggest members of his "fan club", but is not as inhibition-free as Etcetera. She may be Victoria's or Electra's sister, and is close friends of all the kittens.
It is possible that Jennyanydots is Jemima's mother, as she protects her savagely. Jemima is not one of Macavity's victims, but she does dance in his female ensemble. She seems to fear him, but not as much as the older cats. She puts a great deal of trust in Munkustrap and Old Deuteronomy to protect the Tribe.
Jemima is close friends with the insightful Coricopat and Tantomile (or Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer, in smaller productions). When Old Deuteronomy sings his complex idea of what happiness is, Jemima translates it into simpler language that reaches everyone.
Although Jemima seems too young to fully understand the problems of her Tribe, her innocence allows her to see things clearly, which is why she understands Grizabella better than anyone.

Useful Facts About the Role

Jemima is one of those parts where, unfortunately, looks matter (see quote and picture above). The key thing when acting her is to let your idealism and empathy shine through, and make everyone love you.
Jemima has no dance solo, but dances with the ensemble. She should have a high, sweet soprano voice.

Macavity

The Foul, The Bad and The Wicked: BWW Brings You Our ...
"Macavity is...the bad cat."
--Nathan Derix-Brown, Macavity

Macavity, the mystery cat...is evil! He is secretive and sly, very good at sneaking up on cats from the shadows. He is also good with disguises, as demonstrated when he sneaks in dressed as Old Deuteronomy. He uses his long claws and demonic laugh to frighten the Jellicles.
It is not clear how Macavity came to be so evil, but it is known that he has magical powers not unlike those of Mr. Mistoffelees, except that the "original conjuring cat" uses his powers for good. Macavity can appear in two different places at once, create explosions big enough to leave the stage in darkness, disappear altogether from tight situations, and hypnotize cats into doing his will.
It has been confirmed by choreographer Gillian Lynne, that Macavity was in a difficult relationship with Demeter, and likely also Bombalurina. He has a small band of male cats following him and doing his dirty work, and it is possible that his track record includes seducing various young females, as in the end they all rise up against him.
Macavity can be compared to Elphaba from Wicked, in the way they are universally hated and their shared ability to defy gravity. I'm sure there's some fanfiction out there telling the whole of Macavity's story, but I have yet to find it.
Demeter and Bombalurina speak of Macavity with mixed hatred and admiration, describing his skill and his way of life in detail. Not even the most famed police can do anything about him, and his track record goes from murder of humans, dogs and cats...to petty theft such as Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer might commit...to cheating at cards. Nothing he does is honest.
Mungojerrie, Rumpleteazer, Growltiger and Griddlebone are all described as agents of Macavity, but none of them go as far as he will to get what he wants, and eventually Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer turn on him and help to chase him off.
Once revealed, Macavity is a formidable fighter, seeming to strike cats down with a single blow of his claws, sometimes not even touching them. There are several possible theories as to why he targets Demeter...many people take it that he is trying to get her back, but others think that he is just getting revenge on her for seeing through his disguise. In combat, he is not above trickery, but can deal fierce blows when the occasion requires. His final escape proves the point once again: "When a crime's discovered then Macavity's not there!"
It is unknown what Macavity thinks of Grizabella as they are never in a scene together, but some fanfiction authors have suggested that she is one of the cats he hurt, while she was out in the world.

Useful Facts About the Role

You will most likely have to cover a small dance role such as Plato or Admetus (see Plato for more information). Macavity is mainly a dance role, and should never have to sing solo. Some strength is required, as both Macavity and Plato lift other actors. Oh yeah...and you need to be able to blow an electric wire, or make it look like you can, and you should have a terrifying evil laugh.
